I have extensive training and experience in cognitive behavioural approaches to the treatment of mental health difficulties. I am a Canadian Association of Cognitive and Behavioural Therapies (CACBT-ACTCC) certified cognitive behaviour therapist and founding member. I have also received training in emotion-focussed couple’s therapy (EFT). In my work with clients, I also borrow from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Positive Psychology. I work from a primarily cognitive behavioural and attachment oriented-perspective.
Therapy is also a relationship. Successful therapy requires a trusting and caring relationship
with one’s therapist. It also requires a therapist with a strong and specific set of skills and
interventions that have demonstrated effectiveness. My approach to therapy is empirical. What that means is that I seek to provide the most scientifically supported and effective therapy
possible. I also believe very strongly in the importance and impact of secure, loving
relationships. When we are securely connected in healthy, loving relationships, sound mental
health becomes much easier to achieve.
